Naxos Island
the largest and most fertile island in Cyclades
and one of the most attractive and beautiful in
Greece. It combines golden sands with the mountain
beauty.
Naxos Island has long history which includes
the Hellenistic period, Archaic period, Venetian
occupation, Byzantine period. Ancient temples,
Frank castles, Venetian castles, palaces, archaeological
museums, folklore museums marked with the stamp
of past glories.
Saint George (Agios Georgios) is Naxos Town
beach. Sandy and very long (1 km) is the first
choice for swimming and spend a day on it.
It offers all kind of entertainment such as
beach restaurants, beach bars and clubs, water
sport facilities.
Naxos Town or Hora is the island's port and
capital. It is a lively town, of Cycladic architecture
with a maze of narrow streets and tiny passages
and makes an excellent resort. Behind the waterfront
an extensive, almost Medieval Old Quarter stretches
up the hillside where Kastro (Castle) is. Walking
around and in the Castle is a must while the
views are exceptional.
How
to come to Anatoli Hotel
The
hotel offers free transfer from the port,
but you have to pre book it. Otherwise, you
can come very easily, follow the main street
from the port and after 800 meters you will
see a square, where you turn right and in
a few meters you will see the hotel.
How
to come to Naxos island
From Athens Airport, many planes each day
during high season, but book a long time before
you get to the island.
If you decide to go
by boat most common route is Pireas -> Paros -> Naxos.
However, some ferries make a stop at Syros
as well before
getting to Paros and Naxos.
From Rafina Port there are Catamaran ferries
that do not carry vehicles and High Speed boats
that can carry vehicles.
From Pireas Port there are the older ferries
that take 6.30 hours to reach Naxos and go
there via Paros, the High Speed that takes
3.45 hours and the Blue Star tha takes approximately
5:30 hours.
There are several other ferries that connect
Naxos to other islands like Crete, Ikaria and
Samos as well as big ports of Greece like Thessaloniki.
Such trips are usually once a week, depending
on the season.
